1930

In 1930 the Lamorbey district of Sidcup was expanding rapidly and it became clear that a secondary school for boys would be needed in the area.

The Rural Bromley and Chislehurst District Education Committee under the chairmanship of Colonel Francis Edlmann pushed forward a plan amidst further housing development.

Arrangements were made to take possession of 27 Station Road, a red-brick Virginia creeper covered building built in 1900, on the corner of Station and Victoria Roads. It was formerly home to the County School for Girls who were moving to Beaverwood Road (now Chislehurst School for Girls) and a 15-acre site at Water Lane, Crittall’s Corner, to be utilised as playing fields until such a time a new school building would follow there.
