Dance Production

The School Dance Production is an annual tradition that goes back over 20 years. The show takes place in the autumn term and usually has over 100 girls and boys performing or running back stage, lighting and sound. Preparation starts during the Summer term with the Year 13 students working up ideas and running auditions.

There is a new theme every year and all forms of dance are encouraged and shown. Each year group has its own dance with additional groups created around styles. All the technical aspects are run by the students, as is the whole evening from box office to back stage. Local primary schools are invited to the school to watch the dress rehearsal and are always an enthusiastic audience. The dance show is always a highlight of the School calendar, not just for the performances, but how the students, with support from the PE, Drama and Music departments, develop a whole raft of life skills and character traits that help support their school life and their time after completing their education.

Over recent years, many of the students have gone on to have careers on and behind the stage.

School Concerts

The school holds numerous concerts throughout the year, these include performances from our choirs, orchestra, jazz band, guitar and ukulele ensembles and some smaller groups.

Staff and students in the music department are always excited to be able to share their music-making with students, parents and friends of the school.

Typically the annual concert calendar will include the:

  • GCSE/A Level Musicians' Concert
  • Remembrance Concert (at Holy Trinity Lamorbey Church)
  • Christmas Carols (at Holy Trinity Lamorbey Church)
  • Christmas Concert
  • Spring Concert
  • Summer Concert

Our musicians also perform to audiences at the Summer Arts Festival, our Speech Days and Open Events.

Summer Arts Festival

In 2022 we held our inaugural Summer Festival of the Arts set around our new Oak Tree Open Air Theatre, an outdoor stage in the West field.  We were delighted to have the the Mayor and Mayoress of Bexley formally open the new facility.

Student performances included music (jazz, rock, solo's) drama, dance, poetry and arts and crafts.

The Summer Festival of the Arts is a great social evening for the school community to meet up over drinks and nibbles to enjoy the various talents in the school.
